Designing integrations

At Issuu I worked on integrations, ensuring seamless cross-platform experience with partners such as Canva, Adobe, and Hubspot.

Goals

Create a cohesive workflow between Issuu and each platform.

Each platform has unique capabilities and user bases, so the objective was to leverage these strengths while ensuring a connected and user-friendly experience across platforms, that supports easy content creation, efficient task management, and streamlined digital publishing and ultimately aligns user-centric goals with Issuu’s objectives of driving conversions and enhancing brand visibility.

The Discovery process

The discovery phase kicked off with deep research into user needs and workflows across Issuu and partners, focusing on:

  • Mapping user journeys, identifying critical touchpoints, and pinpointing opportunities for the integration to deliver real value.

  • Made strategic assumptions focused on seamless transitions, asset reuse, and cohesive cross-platform flow.

  • Gather insights on user expectations, workflows, and key pain points through surveys, interviews, and feedback from Customer Success and Sales.

Concept phase

Transforming early insights into a structured concept.

We began the UX concept phase by refining insights from users and internal stakeholders to clarify core needs and pain points. Collaborating with the Product Manager and development team, we held brainstorming sessions to explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and prioritize valuable functionality. This iterative process helped us shape a clear, user-aligned concept, setting a strong foundation for design and development.

UI Design

Working across multiple design systems and honoring each platform’s unique features.

I ensured a cohesive and seamless experience:

  • Effortless Import/Export or Embed: Easy content movement across platforms.

  • Simplified Publishing/Embeding: Efficient content creation/distribution.

  • User-Friendly Navigation: Reduces the learning curve, boosting adoption.

Adobe Express Add on and quick action on share

To enhance the add on visibility in agreement with Adobe, we had the opportunity to test the presence of Issuu directly on the share menu.

Integrations with content creation platforms

Canva/Adobe Express - same purpose and user type

Both integrations allow users to transform static creative content into interactive Flipbooks without switching platforms, and provide access to Issuu’s integrated analytics, offering instant insights into metrics like impressions, reads, and clicks.

Beyond direct publishing, we enhanced the user journey by adding quick access to past Issuu images, enabling Canva and Adobe Express users to maintain a consistent, streamlined design experience.

Flow Canva / Adobe Express Integration

Integration with a Marketing tool

Hubspot - Embed, gate, and track Issuu content in HubSpot marketing campaigns.

Empowers users to transform static business collateral into interactive, page-flipping content that’s easily embeddable, trackable, and gateable directly within HubSpot. My focus was on creating an intuitive workflow that allows users to leverage Issuu content as a powerful lead-generation tool.

In addition, HubSpot users could gate and track interactive content to capture and convert leads and at the micro level generate automated marketing actions.

Impact

The goals of boosting conversions and enhancing brand visibility within popular design tools were successfully achieved.

Launched in late 2023 and enhanced with subsequent updates, the Canva and Adobe Express integrations saw strong user adoption. The streamlined workflow and added feature of accessing previous publication images effectively met user needs.

Regarding Hubspot, I couldn’t access the impact as I left the company when the first MVP was launched.
